Icom M506 VHF Radio
Customers can choose from a full-featured VHF fixed mount radio, a radio with an integrated AIS receiver, or a radio with AIS and NMEA 2000 connectivity with the Icom M506 VHF Radio series (all optional add-ons). The M506 includes a 'Last Call' audio recording function, 'Active Noise Cancelling' technology, as well as Icom's new intuitive menu-driven user interface and big dot matrix display, making it extremely user-friendly.
Features
The Icom M506 VHF Radio is the industry leader in marine communications. The huge 3.4" LCD makes reading GPS, AIS, DSC, and radio menus a breeze. The software key functions are displayed on the bottom line of the display and can be toggled with the left and right buttons. Built-in bidirectional active noise cancellation eliminates background noise by up to 90% and improves both broadcast and incoming voice.
Hailer Horn and Other Options
When the radio is connected to an external hailer horn, you can use the radio's microphone to talk to people on the deck or shore and hear their responses through the hailer horn. There are also foghorn and RX speaker features.
Using the IC-M506 from a different cabin or tower is possible with the optional COMMANDMIC, HM-195B/SW. The COMMANDMIC can control most operations, including DSC and AIS, and can also be used as an intercom between the IC-M506 and the COMMANDMIC.
The latest call voice recording feature captures the last two minutes of the most recent incoming call automatically. You can start recording manually as well. The unit is also IPX8 submersible and comes with a voice scrambler as an option.
